Psalm 103

v. 10  He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.

Lord, this is about the best news ever.  You have not treated us as our sins deserve.  You have not abandoned me despite my rebellion against you.  Thank you for bringing me into your family through the blood of Jesus.  Thank you for being a compassionate, merciful God.  Cleanse my heart and make me more like you.  I need you desperately.  Amen.

Psalm 102

v. 11-12  My days are like the evening shadow; I wither away like grass.  But you, Lord, sit enthroned forever; your renown endures through all generations.

God, you are all-powerful and everlasting.  I am nothing.  Thank you for caring about me.  Thank you for loving me.  You sit enthroned forever.  Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done.  Amen.

Psalm 101

v. 2b-3a I will conduct the affairs of my house with a blameless heart.  I will not look with approval on anything that is vile.

Lord God, I miss the mark here all the time.  I beg you to let these words be true of me.  Help me please.  I need you.  Amen.

Psalm 100

v. 3 Know that the Lord is God.  It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Father, you are God.  You are Creator and I am yours.  I confess that I go astray and thank you for your steady and gentle love that pursues me and restores me.  Live in me.  Live through me.  Have your way in my heart.  Amen.

Psalm 99

v. 6 Moses and Aaron were among his priests, Samuel was among those who called on his name; they called on the Lord and he answered them.

Lord, make me like your servants.  Give me the faith of Moses, Aaron and Samuel.  Let my life reflect You to those around me.  Most of all, help me believe that You know better than I do.  About everything.  Always.  Amen.

Psalm 98

v. 4 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music;

Lord God, I give you praise.  I raise my hands to you.  I raise my voice to you, bringing you worship and praise.  You alone are worthy.  You alone are the most high God.  Let all people everywhere bring Him praise and glory.  Lord God, you make my heart glad.  You bring life to my spirit.  I am nothing apart from you.  Amen.

Psalm 97

v. 11  Light shines on the righteous and joy on the upright in heart.

Lord God, I am tempted by darkness.  I am drawn toward evil.  I need your light to shine on me.  Make me righteous and upright in heart.  Fill me with the joy that comes only from you.  Amen.

Psalm 96

v. 9 Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth.

Lord, God, I give you praise.  I worship you.  You are Holy.  Teach me to tremble before you, in the warmth of your love.  Show me how to fear and revere you.  Show me how to respect the honor of your Name.  Thank you for being my God.  Thank you for holding me close to you.  Don't ever let me go.  I give you praise and worship, the one true God.

Psalm 95

v. 5 The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.

Lord God, you are all powerful Creator.  You alone are God.  I marvel at your wisdom, power and creativity.  Thank you for making the universe.  Thank you for crafting our home.  Thank you for the eternity you have prepared for those who call on your Name.

Psalm 94

v. 22 But the Lord has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.


Lord God, be my rock, fortress and refuge.  Let me see shelter nowhere else but in you.  I need you so badly God.  I look for safety in 1000 different places rather than with you.  Take hold of me and keep me close.  Let my heart not wander from you.  Amen.

Psalm 93

v. 2 Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity.

Lord God, I worship you.  I acknowledge as God and King.  I beg you to have mercy on me.  Your power and reign are impossible to imagine.  Change my heart.  Heal my brokenness.  I need you.  Amen.

Psalm 92

v. 14 (The Righteous) will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green,


Father in Heaven, I want to finish well.  I want to be righteous.  I need you to grab me and keep me connected to the vine.  You are the vine, Jesus.  I am the branch.  Apart from you I can do nothing.  Help me to abide in you.  My Lord, and my God.  Make me fruitful for your glory.  Amen.

Psalm 91

v. 14 "Because he loves me," says the Lord, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name."

Father, I love you.  Protect me.  Rescue me.  Amen.

Psalm 90

v. 14 Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

Lord God, that's the word I need right there.  Satisfy.  Lord, satisfy me with your love.  Do not let me look elsewhere for what can only be found in You.  Although I know that my happiness and gladness are not the ultimate goal, they are important to me.  Often they are far too important, and I put myself first.  Lord, show me that I can love the way you love.  Teach me to do it.  Love others through me.  Teach me to push myself aside.  Satisfy me with your unfailing love.  You never fail.  Your love never fails.  I love you and I need you.  Amen.

Psalm 89

v. 35-36 Once for all I have sworn by my holiness -- and I will not lie to David -- that his line will continue forever and his throne endure before me like the sun;

Lord, your Kingdom is eternal.  You have always kept your promises to David, and to us.  Jesus, you are the King.  You are the Son of David.  You are the Son of God.  You are King, forever and ever.  I worship you and give you praise.  I know that you are God.  Amen.

Psalm 88

v. 2 May my prayer come before you; turn your ear to my cry.

Father, hear my prayers.  Have mercy on me.  I am weak and needy.  Fill me with your Spirit...let your strength be my hope.

Psalm 87

v. 3 Glorious things are said of you, city of God:

Lord God, you have established your Kingdom.  The earth is yours and everything in it.  Your creation is beautiful.  I worship you and give you praise.  In the midst of the storm I will praise your Name.  You hold it all in your hands.  I love you and I need you.  Be glorified, Lord our God.  Amen.

Psalm 86

v. 11 Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.

Father, I see the inconsistency in my life.  Actually, I probably see only a small portion of it unfortunately.  I know that I lack integrity.  I know I miss the mark.  Please do teach me your way and give me an undivided heart.  Teach me to rely on your faithfulness.  Help me to fear your name in a way that builds your Kingdom and brings you glory.  Amen.

Psalm 85

v. 7 Show us your unfailing love, Lord, and grant us your salvation.

Lord Jesus, draw us in.  Bring me near to you.  I turn from you far too often.  Bring me back.  Guide my heart.  I praise you for your unfailing love.  Unfailing.  You never fail, God.  Your ways are far beyond our comprehension and they are perfect.  Thank you for being our God.  Have your way.  Build your Kingdom.  Use me however you choose and prepare my heart to be used by you.  Amen.

Psalm 84

v. 12 Lord Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you.

Lord God, you alone are the source of my joy.  I count it a blessing to be yours.  Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere, and better is my worst day in Christ than an eternity of comfort apart from you.  You are the hope of the world.  I give you all praise and glory, Lord my God.  In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Psalm 83

v. 18 Let them know that you, whose name is the Lord -- that you alone are the Most High over all the earth.

Lord God, you are indeed the Most High God.  You are the King.  You are my Lord, Ruler, Master and my God.  Let your Name be proclaimed throughout the earth.  Use me to glorify your Name in whatever way you choose.  I worship you and you alone, Lord my God.

Psalm 82

v. 3 Defend the weak and fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.

Lord God, protect those who cannot protect themselves.  Take up the cause of those who are marginalized, and give me the courage to fight for the weak and fatherless as well.  Take my eyes off of me, and give me a heart for what troubles you.  Let your ways be my ways, let me see what you see.  Amen.

Psalm 81

v. 13 "If my people would only listen to me, if Israel would only follow my ways,"


Lord, God, I know you desire obedience.  You are the Creator and sustainer of the universe.  It makes no sense to run from you or disobey you.  Bring me close to you, give me a heart to know, follow and obey you.  I want to follow your ways, and get away from following my own.  I want to listen to you.  I need you.  Amen.

Psalm 80

v. 3, 7, 19 Restore us, Gold Almighty; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved.


Father, please save us.  Make your face shine upon us.  We are unworthy, I am unworthy, and yet I long for your mercy and love.  Restore me, heal me, have mercy on me.  I need you Jesus.  Amen.

Psalm 79

v. 9  Help us, God our Savior, for the glory of your name; deliver us and forgive our sins for your name's sake.


Lord God, be glorified in my life.  Be glorified in our city.  Forgive us, have mercy on us, pour out your infinite love upon us.  We do not deserve you but we know that you love us.  I do not deserve you but I know that you love me.  Help me Lord, my God.  Amen.

Psalm 78

v. 72 And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them.

Lord, I have been given more than a few opportunities to lead and to be influential.  Make my heart clean and pure.  Please take my sin and selfishness out of the way.  Give me the ability to do that which you want me to do.  Lord God, my God, may I live my life with integrity of heart and skillful hands.  I beg you.  Amen.

Psalm 77

v. 12  I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds.

Lord, sometimes it feels like you've forgotten me.  I know you've never forgotten me.  Help me to consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds.  You are good.  I know that.  Help me to remember that and live out of that place of love and security.  Thank you Jesus.  Amen.

Psalm 76

v.6 At your rebuke, God of Jacob, both horse and chariot lie still.

No one can match you God.  No one can stand before you.  You are God, Lord and King of all.  Have mercy on me.  How can you be all-powerful and all-knowing, and yet so intimately concerned for us all?  How big is your heart?  How great is your love?  How amazing you are, my Lord and my God.
Amen.

Psalm 75

v. 7 It is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another.


Lord God, you are the judge.  You are the King.  You are the boss.  Let your will be done.  Be glorified in my life, in our community, our nation and our world.  Be glorified Lord Jesus.  Amen.

Psalm 74

v. 19 Do not hand over the life of your dove to wild beasts; do not forget the lives of your afflicted people forever.


Lord Jesus, I am afflicted.  Most of my affliction is self-inflicted, I know that, and yet it's an affliction nonetheless.  Do not leave me to rot in my selfishness.  Do not hand me over to those who would carve me up.  Do not abandon me to the enemy.  Help me draw near to you, that you might draw near to me.  Connect me, the branch, to you, the vine.  I need you.  Remember me, Lord.  Have mercy on me, Lord.  Amen.

Psalm 73

v. 26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Lord I am tired.  My flesh is failing.  My heart fails often.  Be the strength of my heart.  I need you to push me through.  Please don't let me fall away from you.  Please grab my heart and my mind.  I need you.  Be my portion forever.  Amen.

Psalm 72

v. 18 Praise be to the Lord God, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds.

Lord God, you alone are marvelous.  You alone are worthy of praise.  Slow me down enough to remember to praise you.  Receive the praise of my heart, flawed though it is.  Your deeds are perfect, your ways are perfect, your thoughts are perfect.  I give you praise, Lord my God.  Amen.

Psalm 71

v. 3 Be my rock and refuge to which I can always go; give the command to save me, for you are my rock and fortress.

Father you are the rock I need.  Bring me to you every day, all the time.  Help me see how great you are, not only when I'm in the storm, but all the time.  Save me God.  Pull me out of the messes I make.  Protect my heart from that which attacks me.  I need you and I love you.  Amen.

Psalm 70

v. 4  But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who long for your saving help always say, "The Lord is great!"

Father you are great.  Make your name great in our world, our nation, our city, our workplaces, schools and lives.  May more and more people long for your saving help, knowing and experiencing your great love as you build your Kingdom.  May they say, "God, You are great".  Amen.

Psalm 69

v. 1  Save me, O God, for the waters have come up to my neck.

Father, you are a God who saves.  No situation is too dire for you.  Right now, I am swimming hard, but the waters do rise up around me.  Save me God.  Save me Jesus.  Thank you for rescuing me over and over again.  Thank you for rescuing me from eternal death.  You are my God and King.  Help me to act like it.  I love you God.  Amen.

Psalm 68

v. 20  Our God is a God who saves; from the Sovereign Lord comes escape from death.

Father, you have saved me.  It's so easy to realize that your love is huge and be grateful for that, while at the same time realizing that you had to pay dearly to pull me out of death.  I have never died before, and because of you, Lord, I never really will.  But apart from you, I am doomed.  I don't really even comprehend all that means, and yet I say 'thank you' to you, my God and Savior, for saving and rescuing me from death.  I have escaped an unthinkable fate only because of you.  Thank you Jesus.  Amen.

Psalm 67

v. 3  May the peoples praise you, God; may all the peoples praise you.


Father, may your name be praised.  Let your glory be known in all the world.  Show me how to love you, how to praise you and how to make your name great.  You are supreme.  You alone are God. Amen.

Psalm 66

v. 16  Come and hear, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me.


Lord God, you have done more than I can imagine.  You have pulled me out of the pit.  You have forgiven me.  You have saved my soul.  You have paid the price for my disobedience and for all the ugliness I have ever known.  Show me how to praise you.  Show me how to shout your praises to all.  Come and hear, all you who want to know Him.  Come and hear what He has done.  Come and hear how good He has been to me.  How patient, how kind.  How perfectly loving.  He will not let me fall, no matter how shaky my commitment to Him.  His commitment to me is rock solid.  I love you, my Lord and my God.

Psalm 65

v. 3 When we were overwhelmed by sins, you forgave our transgressions.

Father, thank you for loving, rescuing, and forgiving.  You are a good and great God.  You are a good and great Father.  I have been overwhelmed by sins.  You have pulled me up and forgiven me.  Thank you.  I love you.  I need you.  Amen.

Psalm 64

v. 10  The righteous will rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in him; all the upright in heart will glory in him!

Lord, make me righteous.  Forgive me and cleanse me.  Teach me to rejoice and take refuge in you.  Teach me to glory in you.  I know I look elsewhere to have my needs met.  I know I have a warped view of what my needs even are.  I want to be yours completely.  I want to be yours wholly.  Make your heart my greatest desire.

Psalm 63

v. 8  I cling to you; your right hand upholds me.


Lord, I don't even have the strength to cling to you.  Hold me close.  Give me the strength I need.  Be my strength.  Hold me up.  I am stretched too thin.  Teach me to cling to you.  In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Psalm 62

v. 5 and 8  Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.

Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.


Father I need rest.  Physical rest, for sure, but mostly rest and peace in my heart.  I have moved away from you and chased my selfish and foolish desires.  I sometimes feel like I don't know the way back.  Please grab me.  I know you are able.  I know you desire that I walk with you.  Help me desire nothing more than you.  Be my refuge, hope and rest.  I love you and I need you.  Amen.

Psalm 61

v. 4 I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings.

Father I do long for you.  At least I want to.  I want to long for you.  You never let me go and your care for me is unbelievable.  Help me to believe.  Help me to know you and to find all I need in you.  I am so easily discontented.  I get tired.  I get frustrated.  I get lonely and scared.  I need you Jesus.  You are all I need.  Put the joy in my heart that comes from seeking only You.  Amen.

Psalm 60

v. 4  But for those who fear you, you have raised a banner to be unfurled against the bow.


Lord God, help me to fear you.  Help me to cling to you as you fight my battles.  Help me to trust you and stand behind you as you take up my cause.  I don't want to fight you.  I don't want to run from you.  I don't want to disobey.  But I do.  My life feels hard.  I fail to trust your goodness.  I am sorry.  Hold me Jesus.  Amen.

Psalm 59

v. 17 You are my strength, I sing praise to you; you, God are my fortress, my God on whom I can rely.

Father, help me understand what it means to love you, trust you, praise you, obey you, and rely on you.  I need you.  I need help.  I am swimming in futility.  Be my strength and fortress.  Grab my heart and draw me close.  Amen.
